Almost two-thirds of the country's terrain consists of mountains and highlands while deserts dominate the north and tropical rain forests are found in the south.
borders
Mexico shares its northern border with the United States and its southern border with Guatemala and Belize. Baja California in the west is a 1,250 kilometer (775 mile) peninsula and forms the Gulf of California. In the east are the Gulf of Mexico and the Bay of Campeche, which is formed by Mexico's other peninsula.
Temperature
The average high temperature in Mexico City during July ranges between 72 and 75 degrees, according to All About Mexico. The average low during the same month is 54 to 57 degrees. Mexico City is in the central part of this nation and far from the ocean, so visitors do not feel the refreshing winds coming off the water like they would in Puerto Vallarta. The coolest month in Mexico City is January, when the high averages 68 to 71 degrees and the low ranges between 43 and 46 degrees.
rivers |
Grijalva River: Its headstreams, the largest of which is the Cuilco, rise in the Sierra Madre of Guatemala and the Sierra de of Mexico. The Grijalva flows generally northwestward through Chiapas state, where it is known locally as the Río Grande de Chiapa, or the Río Chiapa. After leaving a lake created by the Malpaso Dam, it turns northward and eastward, roughly paralleling the Chiapas-Tabasco state border.

The Colorado River is one of the principal rivers of the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico. The 1,450-mile Colorado River drains an expansive, arid watershed that encompasses parts of seven U.S. and two Mexican states.
